Job Title:

Web Based Application Developer (Web and User Interface Design)

Job Function:

A Web User Interface Developer will work closely with other members of the Dancik International development team to deliver high quality web applications for the floor covering, ceramic tile, natural stone, and home decor industry. 

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.       Design software applications using HTML, Javascript, XML, JSP, JAVA, among others.

2.       Design and implement front-end business applications while working closely with IBM iSeries developers to help generate requirements for backend iSeries development.

3.       Is responsible for maintenance and administration of pre-production code environments. 

4.       Work with other developers on the Dancik development team on the implementation of common frameworks and solutions.

5.       Work with the Dancik development team to support/maintain existing production code in the field and develop and deliver new enhancements and products to our client base.

6.       Work with the Business Solutions Architect and Technical Solutions Architect on implementing functional requirements of our various applications.

7.       Interact with Quality Assurance personnel during system testing phases of application development.

8.       Develop documentation including help text, report samples, and screen samples.

9.       Provide training for internal staff and external clients on new and existing products.

10.    Work with System Services and other team members to develop distribution methodologies for our web-based products to our client base.

11.    Acquire basic IBM iSeries Server working knowledge including, but not limited to, iSeries database layout and program execution methods, as well as how IBM has implemented the JAVA JVM runtime, Apache and Tomcat servers. This will also include learning how our web applications running across the iSeries and Linux servers are configured, deployed and maintained.

12.    Stay current on new technologies as they relate to web-based application development.

13.    Assume other duties as assigned.

 Knowledge and Skills:

§         Strong HTML and JavaScript (AJAX, DOM, JSON)

                                      and Java skills

§         Java, Servlets and JSP/JSTL experience

§         Eclipse IDE and Tomcat experience

§         Knowledge of the Structured Query Language

                                      (SQL), relational database principles and JDBC

                                      connection technology

§         Prototype and Scriptaculous experience

§         Strong Web 2.0/RIA knowledge and experience

§         Strong User Interfacing knowledge

§         Database experience (e.g., MySQL, IBM DB2)

§         Proficient in analyzing software requirements and

                                     documenting technical specifications for a web

                                     application

§         Experience with the full software development life

                                     cycle, including design, testing, deployment, and

                                     documentation activities

§         Aptitude for learning and applying programming

                                      concepts

§         Experience in developing new systems and

                                      maintaining existing systems

§         Capable of reasoning and thinking through

                                      problems and be able to independently and jointly

                                     develop desired solutions

§         Self motivated and willing to "do what it takes" to

                                      get the job done

§         Client-focused attitude with excellent

                                     communication skills, both written and verbal

§         Strong problem solving and analytical skills with

                                      the ability to clearly communicate and share

                                      solutions with fellow team members

§         Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem

                                     programming

  Other Preferred Skills and Experience:

·         RPG and iSeries experience

·         Distribution, Warehousing, Accounting experience a plus.

 Hiring Standards:

Education:      

A Bachelors degree with a major in CS, CIS, MIS, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.

 Experience:

Minimum of 5 years development experience in which the largest part of that time has been spent delivering web applications

Working Conditions:

·         Most duties performed in usual office conditions.

·         Occasional travel to professional meetings and working trips as

          required.

·         Use of company provided computer requiring frequent mental and

          visual attention.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding proprietary information

          at all times.
